Environmental Policy

We recognise the importance of sound environmental management at all levels of the organisation and are committed to a dynamic continual improvement program, not only to minimise the company's adverse environmental impacts but also to provide services which are beneficial to the environment.

The significant environmental impacts associated with the activities and services provided by FOS Ltd relate to :

  Beneficial effects

Recovery of oil product from oil/water mixtures

Reduced oil pollution on sea and land

  Adverse effects

Potential contamination of land with petroleum products

Potential pollution of controlled waters with petroleum products

Production of waste residues, some being 'Special Waste'

Consumption of energy and associated emissions to air

        General impacts associated with transportation

General environmental nuisance, including odour emission and noise generation

Our objectives are to manage the causes of these impacts to reduce their effects to the minimum practicably possible, by responding to changes brought about by political, legislative, economic, and technological stimuli.

It is our policy to :-

Comply with all legislative requirements as a minimum but where practicably possible to exceed these requirements

Manage historical pollution liabilities by ensuring 'significant harm' is not being caused to the environment

Reduce all uncontrolled discharges of petroleum products to land and water, under normal operating conditions, to zero

Introduce all necessary controls to ensure, as far as practicably possible, that no accidental release of petroleum products to the environment will occur

Increase business efficiency and to minimise waste production across the company

        Use energy efficiently

Be proactive in response to complaints from neighbours and other interested parties

Be committed to awareness and training programs so that all employees  understand the impact of their activities or their omissions, on the environment

Consider the environmental performance (including the existence of Environmental  Management Systems) of our key suppliers prior to making purchasing decisions

We recognise the role that our employees, and key suppliers, need to play in achieving our environmental objectives and welcome feedback on meeting our continual improvement pledge.
